It is amazing how difficult watercolors can be, though I have seen some people who just seem to be wholly at ease with them from the first time they try them. Not me!! So I think that's why I was so pleased with this one. The very things that make watercolors so wonderful can be so elusive in practice. <br /><br />I see your point about the fresh and unlabored look of the first watercolor, but I'm going to play Devil's advocate here a minute and say that I also think the success of First Winter Chipping Sparrow is in the composition.
